It's The Dark (It's The Hope)
It's the dark,
The process of rationality is broken
to say the least.
It's the dark,
In the midst of a warm summer night
I can feel harmony seeping through
the branches of surrounding trees
On a night like tonight
I wish I could capture the sound
but all I can hear
is the repeating of a high pitched pain.
Can you breathe in
a musty sense of compassion
to satiate the filling feeling
of fleeting love notes digesting in amber deposits?
Can you still grasp
a stuttering concept and romanticized
portion of a love laying
in a puddle of salted lye?
It's the feeling of pain
and the will it retains to sustain
an instrumental clasp on
broken rhythms and arhythmias.
I can't touch what transcends
a lifeless form refusing to make amends
to horrors and coroners
I appear to have wronged.
It doesn't matter anyway
If you believe in a form
of unpalatable forgiveness
upon which people are relieved to reminisce.
It's a darker place beyond
the horizon
and it's a place I don't wish to go
Amidst the hollow
I can learn to cope because
when I stare into your eyes
I look at my vitality with hope
